This church was erected by the United Brethren congregation after they had outgrown their previous location on East Walnut Street. It has been the home of Calvary Baptist Church and is the current home of Heritage Baptist Church. The 1874 city map shows a house owned by Mrs. R. Proudfit. Mary Brinton Tubbs wrote in her memoirs of Ashland about a little white house on the corner owned by Masons in the 1880s.
