The original owner of the Carter-Miller House and year built are unknown. The house stood at the corner of High and Center Streets. In 1900, Lester J. and Carrie Miller were raising their children, Lola, Florence, and Carter, in this Victorian Stick home. Lester worked as a dry goods salesman in Ashland. By 1910 Lola has moved out of the home and Lester seems to have retired while Carter works in the Myers Pump Factory. Lester passed away on June 24, 1914 and is buried in that Ashland Cemetery. The home was then purchased by J.C. Myers and demolished.
