July 6, 2006 Board of Trustees Ashland County Historical Society 420 Center Street Ashland, OH 44805
Dear Board of Trustees
Subjects: A.N. Myers House
At the meeting held on July 5, 2006, the Center Street Historic District members reviewed the proposed demolition application of the A.N. Myers house located at 408 Center Street. As a preservation minded organization, our mission is to ensure all alternatives to demolition are explored before irreversible action is taken. To that end we have enlisted the services of Dan Seckel of the Seckel Group of Mansfield, Ohio to assess the subject property. We respectfully request your permission for Mr. Seckel and other Center Street Historic District members to tour the property. At our expense, we will commission a feasibility study of which a copy will be provided to you for consideration. To allow for this feasibility study we respectfully request that you withdraw your application letter dated June 19, 2006 for a period of 60 days. We sincerely hope that it is economically feasible to restore the property. Should Mr. Seckel’s study conclude that the property is not worthy of rehabilitation we will remove our opposition to your application. We hope that we can work together to come to a consensus on this matter so that we can continue to have a positive relationship with the Ashland Historical Society. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please address your response to my attention at the address below. Sincerely,
Christina R. Portz Secretary Center Street Historical District 855 Center Street Ashland, Ohio 44805
