Center Street Historic District Association Meeting Minutes for July 16, 2007
The quarterly meeting was called to order by Rodney Mohr.
Old Business The Historic Ashland Home and Garden Show July 7, 2007 was reviewed with ticket sales breakdown and advertising dollars analysis.
Symphony Women’s League requested a fundraiser dinner for their organization
New Business The potential of putting lamp posts bank on Center Street. Grants through the Local Certified Government office with the Ohio Historic Preservation office are available if the mayor signs Ordinance 51-05 and sends it to Columbus. It was discussed that we may need a committee for comprehensive planning of the Center Street Historic District.
Future Fund-raisers were discussed as well including a Walking Tour of the Street on Labor Day and/or Lantern Walks before Halloween.
Elections are coming in October. Members discussed separating Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary.
Preservation Board issues – Ashland Seminary tore down a barn/carriage house behind the Heltman home at 834 Center Street. The Seminary did not go through the Preservation Board and has put in a parking lot. Members were encouraged to voice their opinion about the situation with the Ashland Preservation Board. The Ashland Historic Preservation Board will meet Monday July 23, 2007 at 5 PM.
The fourth quarter meeting will be held on Monday, October 8, 2007, location to be announced The annual historic district summer picnic will be held at Mohrs, 513 Center Street on Sunday, August 19, 2007. The Association will provide meat and drinks as well as paper products. Everyone should bring a dish to share
A motion to adjourn was made by Joe Mason. The motion was seconded by Ann Mohr. Motion carried.
