Center Street Historic District Association Meeting Minutes for July 10, 2008
The third quarter meeting of the Center Street Historic District Association, INC. was called to order by Andrew Grudowski. The secretary’s report was read by Kyle O. von Kamp. Ruth Detrow asked for the addition of “Mayor Glenn Stewart made a proclamation claiming April 10, 2008 as Betty Plank and Alta Sims Day.” A motion to accept the addition was made by Bud Green with a second by Anne Green. Motion carried. The treasurers report was given by Bud Green. The insurance was paid yesterday and as of today the organization has $10,111.09. Since April, the Association as paid bills for ads, accounting, printing, and insurance. The CD of $6000 at 4.9% matures September 2008 and suggested the executive committee meet to discuss how the organization should continue to invest for our projects. Mr. Green also suggested reviewing budget for the home tour before the October meeting. Accountant, Lisa Armstrong, told Mr. Green how to set up accounts for bookkeeping and Lisa Armstrong is handling our tax paperwork. Our fiscal year is September to September. Motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Anne Green. It was seconded by Joe Mason. Motion carried. Old Business Thank yous from Betty Plank and Alta Sims were shared. By-Law changes were read as the Ad Hoc committee approved. A motion to accept the by-law changes was made by Ann Mohr and Ruth Detrow seconded the motion. Motion carried. Committees Reports Fundraising and Special Events Committee representatives Kyle O. von Kamp and Arlene Grudowski report on the success of the Historic Ashland Home and Garden Tour. They reminded people that we still have limited addition postcards, note cards and t-shirts available as souvenirs of the Center Street Historic District. The committee will have more to report at the October meeting when all of the bills are paid and the final totals are made. A survey was passed out for members to complete to help in the future planning of the home tour. Andrew Grudowski reported for the Projects Committee. This committed meet on April 16th and decided to focus on lamp posts as a long term project. Chris Buchanan is to report back details. The Projects Committed also is in the planning stages for a scholarship for an undergraduate degree that relates back to the historic district somehow. Bruce Kramer is heading this project up. Other potential projects were discussed including plaques on homes, historic street signs, assisting the Red Cross, and the adopt a mile program. All are in the planning stages with more information to come. New Business The summer picnic will be held August 10th at Schaefer’s between 4 and 7 at 847 Center Street. Arlene Grudowski moved to adjourn. Bud seconded the motion. Motion carried.
