Carl Alessandro has offered to donate his artistic talent to support historic preservation. Kyle O. von Kamp suggested we ask him to conceptualize Center Street with all of the bells and whistles, lamp posts, brick cross walks, street signs, and anything that might be the dream. This would be helpful to allow people to catch a glimpse of what could be done as well as his drawings could be used in home tour programs and publicity. Rodney Mohr suggested the corner of East Liberty and Center, showcasing the Damp House. Nancy Larsen suggested doing a few down that entire block. Discussion continue with the possibly commissioning him to doing a house a year for note cards etc. Ann Mohr asked whether he would be able to do color the rendering and if he couldn’t Ann Green said that possibly Sally Green Tharp could use watercolors over it if Carl didn’t mind someone else working on his creation. Nancy Larsen moved that the Center Street Historic District Association, INC. ask Carl Alessandro about drawing/painting the east side of the 500 block of Center Street. Severn Green seconded the motion. Motion Carried.
Home Tour Results of the home tour survey by homeowners and the general public were shared. It was discussed that would should have the home tour in July and a Christmas tour. In July the association would try to include more homes off the street. For the Christmas tour it was suggested to have no less than three houses but to keep them extremely close together. Rodney and Ann Mohr have agreed to have their home open for Christmas. The executive committee met on January 21, 2009 and suggested the association go with the home tour on July 4th no matter if Balloon Fest happens or not. Joe Mason moved that we have the home tour for one day, July 4, 2009. Rodney Mohr seconded the motion. Motion carried. For the Christmas tour Rodney Mohr suggested we make a donation from the ticket sales to Toys for Tots and possibly get them to come to the event to help since they will benefit. A sign up list for the Events Committee was passed around. Many people are needed. Music/Artisans Coordinator (Contact musicians and artisans to participate); Ad Sales Coordinator (Sell Ads for the program book); Ticket Sales Coordinator (In charge of selling pre-sale and day of tickets); Public Contact for info (Take phone calls from people with general questions about the tour); Homeowners Coordinator (Talk to homeowners to participate and work with the person coordinating the musicians/artisans for placement in homes); and the program book will be done by Kyle O. von Kamp
