Center Street Historic District Association Meeting Minutes for February 12, 2007
The meeting was called to order by Rodney Mohr. The secretary’s report was read by Kyle O. von Kamp. Kathy moved to accept the secretary’s report. Joe Mason seconded the motion. Motion carried. Ruth checked to see what the Ashland County Historical Society can do with the land that the A.N. Myers home sits on. Buildings for schools, libraries, and museums are supposed to be 25 feet from the property line. She needs to check to make sure, but if true the would leave 2 feet for them to build on. Gary Courtright is out of town until next month. Arby’s has not sent a check to the Center Street Historic District Association, INC. as of yet. President’s Report We are still waiting to hear from Judge Wiest. Judge Wiest was supposed to have the decision by last Friday. Joe Mason commented that he felt our brief by John Good was stronger but the judge could send us back to the zoning board of appeals. Still in question is the issue of the offer. If we are to rely on the zoning board, would they vote against us. The Association received a bill for the litigation between members of the Association and the Ashland County Historical Society. The bill was for $4,240.00 but John Good would like $2,240 and tax deduction for the rest, after we finish getting our paperwork from the State of Ohio. Expressions of gratitude were expressed for John Good’s willingness to work with the Association. A motion to pay John Good was made by Ruth Detrow and seconded by Kathy Aldrich. Motion carried. Beth Buchanan asked, “How will we be notified of Judge Wiest’s decision?” Kyle von Kamp will try to email a notice out. Beth also questioned whether to respond to the media. Kyle asked whether we should prepare a press release ahead of time. Joe Mason stated it would be difficult to make a statement without knowing what the Judge’s decision is. Rodney Mohr is hoping for a discussion with the Ashland County Historical Society.
