Center Street Historic District Association Meeting Minutes for April 9, 2007
The quarterly meeting was called to order by Rodney Mohr. The secretary’s report was read. A motion to accept was made by Ruth Detrow and seconded by Ann Mohr. Motion carried. The treasurer’s report was given by Gary Courtright. The Association has $3394.68 – income from dues - $240. This reflects the account before the bill for $2240 from attorney John Good. John Good has requested a letter for donation of services equaling $2000. Kathy Aldrich asked if everyone paid dues. Gary replied not everyone but a very good number in comparison to previous years. 15 potential members have not. Kathy Aldrich moved to accept the report. Ruth Detrow seconded the motion. Motion carried. Old Business Fundraisers A rummage/community sale will take place May 5, 2007 between 9 and 5. $10 for a 10x10 spot. The Historic Ashland Home and Garden Show will take place July 7, 2007, the Saturday of Balloon Fest. The show will hopefully include carriage rides and artisans in homes. Artist applications due ASAP
Symphony Women’s League suggested a fundraiser dinner at houses. The Symphony Women’s League would provide food and dinners auctioned off. The Center Street Historic District Association INC was asked if our organization could help with cooking etc. Ann Mohr donating her house for use during the fundraiser. Dottie Tennis asked if we will we help. Gary Courtright asked, “When would it be held?” Ann and Rodney Mohr said it could happen anytime. Gary Courtright suggested fall because the Association was busy at this point. 501C3 paperwork went through after paperwork was sent back to the Association for application problems.
New Business Ashland County Historical Preservation Trust started by Scott Brown and friends 9 people board – Margie from gleaner – David Lee – Ken Comstock – David Roepke – Noah Watkins – Sharon Sample and husband – Chris Buchanan – and Ann Mohr Scott Brown and Nancy Davis will be talking to the ACHS board tomorrow morning. Joe Mason dealing with legal aspect of the Preservation Trust. The Trust’s purpose - - to raise funds and purchase to save and preserve the integrity of old structures in the county - help people by being a resource for gaining $$$ for restoration
Kyle O. von Kamp suggested committee for comprehensive planning of the Center Street Historic District. Rodney Mohr felt it was a good idea but should wait until after the Home and Garden Tour Gary Courtright recommended that legislation should be part of the planning
The Ashland Historic Preservation Board will meet Monday April 16 at 5 PM.
Rodney more suggested the fundraising committee call the group together if needed before the home and garden tour. The next meeting will be held on Monday, July 9, 2007 at Ruth Detrow’s home at 421 Center Picnic at Mohrs in August The fourth quarter meeting is scheduled for October 8, 2007.
A motion to adjourn was made by Ruth Detrow The motion was seconded by Dottie Tennis Motion carried.
